Guest guest Posted June 16, 2000 Report Share Posted June 16, 2000 I just got off the phone with my insurance PRUDENTIAL HMO OF OK and they said I was denied, but would not give me a reason. This makes me furious!!! This is totally ridiculous! I am 235# overweight have numerous co-morbidities, my PCP sent in a referral and still they deny me! That's it! The gloves are coming off and I'm going for the throat. They are NOT going to deny me this life saving surgery! If any of you hear an explosion in the Tulsa area it's just me blowing up. They say because there are surgeons who do this type of surgery in my area they will not approve the surgery by Dr. R. I explained to Diane (insurance rep) and she was very sympathetic and said the only thing I could do now is appeal. Does anyone have a copy of an appeal letter that I could look that made a comparison and a division of the surgery DR. R does and the others do? Hi , Where are you in your process?? will your pcp support you in this?? I remember when you first posted a few weeks ago, now you seem much more focused on your " new " life. I am so glad. I am 2 weeks post-op, I only wish this surgery would have been around years ago. Even though I am 54 years old I can have a better quality of life for the years I have left!! At least I don't have to worry about being a burden to my husband or tucked away in a nursing home so fat the nurses get a hernia trying to move me!! Good Luck !! Marie in Va.
