Guest guest
, Just wanted to let you that I also have interstitial cystitis. My urologist put me on Elmiron for several months and I have had no problems with it in over a year. The Elmiron is supposed to rebuild the bladder wall lining. It worked great for me. I could tell a huge difference in a matter of a couple of weeks. The Elmiron is very expensive but I was able to get it through my insurance's mail order prescription plan. Hope they get it under control for you. W surgery outcome Hi, I'm sorry I haven't posted in a while,I have been reading e-mails though just not feeling well these days. My dog has cancer, and is on steroids, he is doing ok now but its not a cure. He has 2 tumors in his chest, as long as he is able to eat and not having trouble breathing I am going to continue the steroids, and see what happens when. Now about my surgery, I had a laparotomy for endometriosis and adhesions, they also performed a cystoscopy. The endo was not that extensive, I did have some on my R ovary and it was lasered. However, the cystoscopy showed the real answer to my problems/pain. I have significant interstitial cystitis. It is an inflammation of the bladder and while there are treatments, there is no cure. I go back to the doctor next week to discuss options. I have been having alot of pain after the surgery, although not pancreas type. I have pain meds but they are not touching it. If I don't get any relief by in the morning I am going to call- although not sure what they can do over the phone. I'm tired so I'll write more later. If anyone else has this I would appreciate any info. e-mail me privately if you wish. -SC

That is the med they are talking about putting me on. My insurance should cover it, at least they have everything else without me having to do mail order. If I used the mail order plan half of my meds would not be formulary.(Merck-Medco) They can be a real pain to deal with, so I go every month and get my prescriptions, Its not that big of a savings to deal with the hassle of mail order. Anyway, I'm glad the med worked so well with you. I have a few concerns about it that I am going to discuss with my doctor. like the anticoagulant effect- I am already on a regular EC aspirin daily, and I do have diverticula, plus it can affect liver enzymes. At least this doctor is at MUSC and knows Dr. Hawes so there should not be a problem with him discussing this with him- as long as Dr. Hawes is available anyway. Thanks again, its always good to hear positive news about a treatment. >
