My PCP thinks I will need it for 1- 2 weeks and I just need to trust God that I will be able to get where I need to go and get what I need. > > Diane, I don't know where you live but assume that it is a much larger community than the bodunk town that I live in *S* Here in Missouri (and other states also)the Division of Aging can give you a number to call for rides to and from medical appointments. My mother who isn't too old to drive but she gets terribly nervous since her stroke last year when she drives in a larger town (where her appointments are) there are many times that I can't take her or my step dad to their appointments. They come get them and pick them back up. It's not always in the big vans, most of the time, it's in a car. She has to call a minimum of 3 days in advance and it costs her nothing. Plus, when I take her, if she has called in advance they pay milage for my car! Makes her feel not so bad for me driving them " so much " that she can at least pay for the gas. I don't know if that helps but at least it is a suggestion*S* If you are on state medical aid or Medicare, you are qualified for free transportation thru them but I've also heard of people using them that weren't they just had to pay a small amount much less than taxis. SherriBelle, Yes, I have used the Medicaid transportation, but the 3 days advance notice can be a problem when I am in an acute thing and can't wait 3 days to go see the doctor. I live in Nashville,TN---big city!!! There probably are more options, but sometimes in a place this big, they are hard to find. Thanks for your help! Sincerely, Diane TN State Rep
