Hi Louie;

Go sorry to hear that you've been having it so rough. I haven't been

on in a while due to my own hospitalization, or I would have answered

you sooner.

As for Diabetis- I have it also. I take long acting " Lantis " . and it

works wonderfully well! It lasts 24hrs. I also take humolog during

the if and when I eat. It is short acting.

As for the art of giving one a shot, it took me a while also. But

after 6 yrs on Sandostatin 3x a day, and now insulin sometimes 6x a

day- NO PROB! :-)

I would say to give the insulin a chance as I think it works alot

better than the pills- but that's just my opinion. I believe it would

help to regulate you alot better also.

Hope this is of some help.

My best thoughts and prayers are with you!

God Bless!

Dear Louie

I am so sorry you are having such problems getting your BSL stable,

as a diabetic myself, I know how scary that can be. As for the

emotions running high, I get like that when I am too high, or if I go

down too quick.

I think you need to go on the injections, once you become used to it,

it really isn't a big deal. In Australia you can get an insulin pen,

it is just like the needle stick you use for testing your levels, see

about getting one over there.

I have also found that surgery makes me unstable for a couple of

weeks too, also having a panc attack also sets things haywire.

My thoughts are with you and hope that you stablelize asap.

Regards

Hi Cyndie,

Thanks for the advise. I have one quick question for you about your shots. Did

you have someone in the beginning to help you give yourself the shots? I have

shots for my migraines when they get real bad which may only be a couple times a

year that I need the shots, but they go into my leg and by the time I get done

giving myself the shot I have a bruise and about 4-6 places where I have hit

myself from shaking so bad, so this is why I don't think I could do it several

times a day with insulin, Maybe the shots get easier with time. Also my doc

said I will have more energy with insulin. Is this true with you?

Tues & Wed, It settle down so I thought I was ok, but Thurs. I started to feel

very jittery and just sort of like I wanted to take everyone head off who talk

to me. Well, I decided to check my sugar Friday & it was all over the place. It

was 232 2-hrs after lunch and then 3 hrs later it was down to 82 and I was

shaky again, so I drank some OJ before I could eat dinner. Then 2 hrs after it

was ok at 121. But by bedtime it was 185. SO you can see it's still all over

the place, And more of the same thing on Sat. Sat. Night I went out to see our

best friends and only at a few pretzels in the evening and my sugar at bedtime

was 238. I don't know what to do for it when it too high. Do you? I do know

what to do if it too low. Thanks for your help.

Take Care,
