Guest guest
Hi, I posted this query on the bulletin board before I figured out how to post it to the group. So I hope that's okay. Thanks. I have had rosacea for about 6 years now. It is concentrated on my nose which is now permanently reddened with a slightly less red patch extending out for about 1cm on either side. I get pustules, sometimes flakiness, swelling and tightness. It comes and goes, always a little worse than before. I finally 'nailed down' my treatment to minocyclin oral anibiotics combined with a reasonable diet, not too much booze and avoidance of yeast which seemed to cause flare-ups. This seemed to keep it in check and indeed brought it to a stage where it wasn't particularly noticeable. Then I decided to try homeopathy. I live in Berlin, Germany where homeopathy is quite respectable with many doctors combining it with their usual medical practice and some homeopaths offering only the classic variety. I have been doing the classic variety now for 5 months and in that time have taken no antibiotics whatsoever. But, gradually my skin has disimproved and the pustules and 'tightness', particularly in the last month, are returning. My skin is redder and becoming more painful. All of which makes me very unhappy and stressed. Which in turn is bad for my skin. You all know what I mean. So now I am reaching the point where I have to decide to abandon the homeopathy and return to the antibiotics, or to push on for another month or so and see what happens. The homeopathy rule of thumb means one year of illness to one month of treatment. My questions are these. 1.Does anyone have any experience with rosacea and homeopathy which they could share with me? (Bearing in mind that homeopathy may be good for other conditions but useless for rosacea). 2.Has anyone who has taken antibiotics for a long time (nearly 4 years in my case) stopped taking them one day, and what then happened? 3.I worry a bit that the increase in redness etc in the last few months might be permanent? Does anyone have an opinion on this - generally? Thank you. And thank you for the general hints, tips and support on the website. I have been reading it for some time but this is the first time I've written. Mike.
