Guest guest
hi, i'm a young male with rosacea, and i've been so scared of aggravating my (mild) condition, that I avoid exercise because I don't want to get heated up and flush. However, some people on this list seem to think that exercise does more good than harm w/ respect to rosacea because it improves circulation. just wanted to know what you guys think of this, and if you have any tips for a guy who wants to exercise but also REALLY doesn't want to aggravate his condition. thanks, drummond
Guest guest
Hi Drummond, I run about 3 to 4 miles five times a week. Usually, this is after sunset once it starts to cool down. I'm in Miami so I can tell you it's never really cool here. I prefer to run at night because I'm more warmed up and I feel my muscles are looser. It would probably be cooler to run in the mornings, though, since the sun's heat tends to linger long after sunset. I drink lot of ice cold water during the day and just before I run. ice cold. So cold that I start to get a chill all over. I figure I start out a little ahead of the game. If it's really hot out, I also get in the shower and run cold water over myself to make sure I've lowered my body temperature as much as possible. Also, if I'm running, I'll keep a bottle of ice water outside and splash some on my face (as well as drink some) if I feel I'm overheating. I usually sweat so much my t-shirt will drip sweat. You could also try exercising indoors, though clearly that's not as enjoyable for some. I do think -- in fact I know -- running improves your circulation. Whether that extends to the face and rosacea, I can't be sure. With rosacea, it seems the most important thing is not to stress the blod vessels so that they become " permanently " stretched. Still, when I'm runing and eating well (no ssugar, low carb but lots of raw veggies and fruits) I find people comment on how smooth my skin looks. There are so many health benefits associated with exercise that I wouldn't trade them for anything. Hope this helps, Gigi Help w/ Exercise! hi, i'm a young male with rosacea, and i've been so scared of aggravating my (mild) condition, that I avoid exercise because I don't want to get heated up and flush. Guest guest
don't let rosacea deter you from keeping the rest of your body in good shape. I enjoy jogging. What I like to do is to exercise in the evening or early morning when the air is cool for about 30-45 minutes. That will really work up a sweat and I find that my rosacea does not become aggravated. The cool air feels really good on my skin. cheers --- drummond0772 drummond0772@...> wrote: > hi, i'm a young male with rosacea, and i've been so > scared of > aggravating my (mild) condition, that I avoid > exercise because I > don't want to get heated up and flush. > > However, some people on this list seem to think that > exercise does > more good than harm w/ respect to rosacea because it > improves > circulation. > > just wanted to know what you guys think of this, and > if you have any > tips for a guy who wants to exercise but also REALLY > doesn't want to > aggravate his condition. > > thanks, > drummond > > > > -- > Please read the list highlights before posting to > the whole group (http://rosacea.ii.net/toc.html). > Your post will be delayed if you don't give a > meaningful subject or trim your reply text. Guest guest
It is important to exercise. Even if you flush, exercise is still good for you. It will lower bodyfat, build muscle, and if you look good enough nekkid because of exercise, it will outweigh your flush, especially at night, or in an club environment. Think of how great strippers look under club light! See them in daylight and its a different story (scary). If you flush, try 5mg Accutane/d. I don't like the clonidine et al type of drugs because of their side effects (I've never tried them, though). Another thing to try is minocin or zithromax. Sulfacet-r is good because it is tinted and treats inflammatory lesions at the same time. > hi, i'm a young male with rosacea, and i've been so scared of > aggravating my (mild) condition, that I avoid exercise because I > don't want to get heated up and flush. > > However, some people on this list seem to think that exercise does > more good than harm w/ respect to rosacea because it improves > circulation. > > just wanted to know what you guys think of this, and if you have any > tips for a guy who wants to exercise but also REALLY doesn't want to > aggravate his condition. > > thanks, > drummond

Guest guest
I walk on an indoor track - this time of year and in the summer the heat and humidity kill my face. I slow down a little when I get near the a/c floor vents - I've figured out where to be in the lane so they blow on my face. If I do flush I go into the rest room and splash with cold water and keep on walking. The exercise is not making my face any worse but it makes my mind feel lots better (and hopefully my body).
