Guest guest
YEAR ONE: What i learned: trust myself and believe in resiliency, less is more and it is what i do the majority of the time that matters. My mother was killed in a car accident at month 11 of my journey. I flew to her home and stayed for two weeks to " sort out " legal matters, possessions etc. It was a grievous time. I lived on apples, seafood, coleslaw and gallons of coffee! My face withstood the test of time...no ill effects. While there i noticed that others in the family had rosacea. We are scotch/irish/welsh by ancestry. No one seemed bothered by the way their faces looked, just part of life. At the end of one year my forehead and chin were clear, my nose was prone to pinkness from time to time and my right cheek was pinkish, left cheek was blotchy. Still had visible veins on the cheeks and edge of nose and tiny amount on chin. Slight edema subcutaniously on the cheeks but not visible and my skin still felt a little bumpy. I continued with the same facial routine. Continued with experimenting and incorporating diet agendas into my life. I was using olive oil, almond oil, sesame oil mostly and a little butter at times. I was taking a cold water fish oil supplement (not to be confused with fish liver oil) and enteric coated garlic tablet if not eating fresh garlic. My vitamin supplementation depended on my juicing days. I ate papaya and yogurt with each meal. My complete protein foods consisted of soy, halibut, salmon, cod, eggs. My grains and " starches " (all organic of course) consisted of buckwheat, kasha, amaranth, oats, quinoa, brown rice, wild rice, long grain rice, corn, potatoes, pasta, beans and peas. Veggies and fruits (again organic) were whatever was local and in season, lots of cruciferous veggies. I was eating more shitake and reishi mushrooms. Dessert? Yup at least once a week...not much of a sweet tooth. Coffee (organic)? Yup two cupsa java in the morning. Tea (organic)? I chose a mixed green and black earl grey and chai. So basically i had incorporated many of agenda suggestions by this time. What was so hard? Using olive oil instead of vegetabel oil? No. Cooking organic spinach pasta, tossed with olive oil, sprinkled with shredded romano cheese and blanched organic bell peppers, onions and garlic? No that wasn't hard either. It was easy! And fun! My body liked getting back to basics and i didn't sweat it when i ate out or went on vacation...it was what i did the majority of the time that mattered.
