Guest guest
Jerry, Congrats on your daughter's engagement. I will keep her fiance in my prayers as I do everyone serving the military. It is so nice to see our children grow into responsible adults. It is wonderful to know that each of your daughters have made a good choice in their husband/future husband. After some of the guys my daughter dated in high school it was wonderful to know she has chosen such an awesome young man to be her husband. I find it amazing how differently people age. I, too, was blessed with good 'aging' genes. Very often I am mistaken to be my daughter and stepdaughter's sister rather than mother. Nothing like that sort of compliment to inflate the old ego! I can't take any credit since I just happen to be lucky genetically in that department. Unfortunately, it seems the luck didn't extend to the inner parts of my body. I often tell my husband that my outside may look 10 years younger than it is, but my insides probably look about 90! Oh, well, you can't have everything! Guest guest
I want to thank eveyone for sending me birthday greetings...(I wonder how you all knew) I cherish all te love in this group and am grateful every day that I have you all to talk to or just to listen to you. I'm here to tell you that turning 60 is pretty easy why I don't feel a day over 59. Any one can turn 60 ...they just got to live long enough......clean living greatly enhances the probability (which is why it is a miracle in my case) Actually my day wasn't te best I've had....I slept all day as I had one of those where my fatigue got the better of me along with some knee joint pain and back pain but tommorrow is another day. Each of my girls called me to wish me a happy B-day and remind me how old I've gotten...those sweet things. Re: my youngest she may be my baby but shes almost 27 and it's about time she got married, if she has kids then I'll have grandbabies by " all my children " Tony thanks for letting me share all your ladies, I hope I can do some justice as they obviously adore you. and I can't hope to fill even your socks. Thanks again everyone..I wanted to write individually to all of you but I'm too tired from just tying to catch up with all the posts... I should know better than to let them go as I did these last couple of days The Idea of meeting at my place is one I was going to suggest myself as I can't afford to travel out west....so you all come Bert Michigan is only a couple inches on my map., don't forget I lived with a house full of women (5 inc. my wife) so I'm pretty tough, besides women is my favorite animals. If there are some among you (which I doubt) that haven't been told they were loved today, let me be the first.....I love you and there ain't a damn thing you can do about it. the dirty OLD man. jerry
Guest guest
...I've got the same problem you have...the outside is still fairly nice, but other than my mind (which is stuck at... oh...24) my insides are woeful. love jerry
Guest guest
Cheryl & Randy.... Thanks for the wishes ...you also seemed to keep it in tune, but what do I know I'm tone deaf. It eans a lot to receive your greetings. I hope all is well with you and Randy's leg is healing.....can he get thru an airport security detector? Guest guest
Jan..... thanks for the greetings... I always have to stand on my head to read your posts but it clears my sinuses.( Don't tell the others but I knew what gobsmacked meant I was trying to have fun at your expense) But am glad every one rushed to help me) You are a day ahead of me sp when you read this I'l have sent it yesterday which is your today and my tomorrow...it's easy. I know you are young at heart as am I because of your sense of humor and of course those genes.....which by the way I wear everyday to stay looking young and hip. Hope your day, (or tomorrow in my case) is painfree and full of sunshine. BTW...is it still warm down there or is it getting coole since the sun is working it's way toward me? Take care of yourself. love jerry
Guest guest
Carole....thank you my young friend... I am indeed infinitely wiser. It is amazing what a few years can do. Why I feel like a grizzled old veteran whose job it is to help rookies learn the game. Now also I can get all the senior citizen discounts and people will call me sir and mister and help me cross the street. Young ones such as yourself will flock to me for sage advice which I will dispense slowly and knowingly with a twinkle in my eye and a slightly bemused smile at the cornes of my mouth. When you turn 60 , you are suddenly imbued with the answers to lifes secrets. I recomend it as a goal for all you puppies out there....just live a clean, healthy sober life as I did and someday you may make it. love jerry

Guest guest
Where in the central valley...I live in the central valley! Debby [ ] Jerry Hey Jerry! My daughters are going to love the blonde joke - they are both natural blondes - they get it from there dad. People used to ask if I was there stepmom, as they also don't look a lick like me either. Those Italians have strong genes! Lucky for them though, otherwise they wouldn't be as beautiful.Going to the central valley this time. Usually go to LA, but given a falling out with my lightly psychotic mom and totally psychotic sister we wont be a visitin' there any time soon! Going to the in-laws this time. Also going to take the hour trek up to the Sierras to see some old friends one day. Thats always hard, I miss it there so much, makes it hard to go back home. (Probably because I don't think of WA as home, but rather the Sierras.) Right now the ski resort we worked for is still open, so gonna go by and see everyone there. No skiing for me though, they say you have osteoperosis and you tend to steer clear of things like skiing. The thing I am looking forward to the most.......SUN, SUN, OH THAT BEAUTIFUL SUN!!!!!!! Looking upward and letting those wonderful warm rays shine on my face........sorry, slipped into a fantasy there for a sec. Picking up a boat the inlaws are giving us. That will be real nice. We have a sailboat now, my hubby built it himself. (I am so proud!) But I have been the one who missed having a motor boat. Grew up spending every vacation day at the Colorado River water skiing. Have wonderful memories with my dad there. Any way, the central valley isn't exactly my favorite part of California, but it has sunshine and it is vacation, so I am sure it will be a favorite as soon as I get there! Just wish this fatigue would let back up, it's really hindering getting ready. Not to mention my daughter is doing some of the driving, but she isn't comfortable driving in the cities, so she is leaving that up to me. One day I will have to tell you the story of driving her and her boyfriend - in their BRAND NEW CAR - through rush hour traffic in LA. It was worth the look on there faces, not to mention the squeek in their voices! I got to get revenge for all the times I had to nag about their driving habits in my car, it was lovely. Ah, revenge, a parents friend. So, I plan on having a great time. Don't want to get too burnt, but intend on enjoying every ray of sunshine I can get. Maybe I will post a picture for my fellow northwesterners, so they know what it looks like! :)Oh. One more question for ya. Have you ever read any of Tony Robbins books? I have picked one up, and wow what I have learned. Especially about attitude, most specificly positive attitude. I feel like I am learning how to live all over again. I recommend it to anyone here - especially if they are feeling overwhelmed by all this disease tends to throw our way. It is like a huge expanded version of the serenity prayer!Talk to you soon!Love,Carole K

Guest guest
Jerry, I worked with a guy a few years back who had been transferred from Cleveland. I commented on how my husband was not impressed when his company sent him back there for some NEC class. His response was " Eh...weve gotten a bad rap ever since the river caught fire. " He got a real laugh out of this poor girl from the mountains with her mouth hanging open over the possibility of a river catching fire! Then there is the fact that my mother is from Menter, and now you talk about the rubber smell, hmmm...losing its attractiveness. And hey! Tell that association of yours to quit pickin' on the bunnies! They were there before you were! We get alot of rabbits here within the city. As big as this place has gotten, we still have no shortage of rabbits and squirrels. In the Sierras, it was a rarety a rabbit would let you catch a glimpse of them, they were good hiders. But had deer in the yard all of the time. Thats how you knew it was spring! Had a lovely black bear on my portch one night. Headed down stairs to the front door (house was built on a mountainside) with my oldest daughter and our lab, when we got to the door we were greeted by a very large, and slightly unhappy black bear. Ran back up to my husband and other daughter and the ding bat wouldn't beleive me! WE get back to the door and can't see him, but the dog is making noises like I have never heard him make. We get in the door quickly, and my husband grabs a spotlight and starts searching out the windows. And what do his eyes appear? I smacked him upside the head and told him I wasn't going any where at night alone again! But I can think of worse things to worry about in my neighborhood than a bear. Like neighbors who open their upstairs windows and shoot at the birds just for fun. Of course this grouchy old lady took care of them! Woops! Getting way off the liver subject here. Talk to you soon! Guest guest
Don't worry...they are trap and release . one of the bunnies had a lltter in the bush Right by our front walk and the neighbor's damn cat got all the babies....we aren't supposd to let our cats run free. We also have ducks who lay eggs sometimes under our tree....the ducklings are so cute following mom duck around. One of them swam in our pool. The best pet I ever had may have been a bunny who was litter trained (more or less ) and follwed me around like a puppy...that bunny ate god as I shoppe in the veggie section especially for her...she liked clover and i could let her out in the yard to graze and she would come running..(.actually.hopping)..when I called her in. Guest guest
I know...we are celebrating the vernal equinox here (dancing maidens, wine etc)...spring arrived at 8:01 Thursday (which is your Friday) the day had the same amount of daylight as night and they are geting longer ( HEY IF THEY GET LONG ENOUGH MAYBE WE CAN CATCH UP TO YOU GUYS). Guest guest
Wow! Is it actually Spring? You wouldn't know that here right now. Cold and rainy (oooh, big surprise). the only indication of spring around here is all of my garden seedlings coming up on my kitchen table. It doesn't warm up soon, I am going to lose them. MMmmm...sun.....I guess you can take the girl out of California, but you can't take the California out of the girl. But, hey, if you say it's spring I am sure it will catch on here soon! Does anyone know; Is it spring when you can see the northern lights? I am thinking of going north to see it. BTW - We do get very long days in summer here, can be light as late as 9:30/10:00. I guess its Gods way of making up for all the grey days. Jerry you leave those dancing maidens alone too! Carole K
