Old, But Useful Article on cea and Lymphedema

Hi,

I found the article below on rosacea a few months ago, buried deep

within the Galderma site, by JK Wilkin, MD, who is a derm on the

board of the NRS and had a high position in the FDA. Anyway, there's

been some discussion of facial swelling. One possible cause discussed

was angioedema. Another cause, outlined by JK Wilkin, is that rosacea

is disease not only of the blood vessels, but of the facial lymph

system. He really emphasizes that rosacea is a disease of both.

The reason I hesitated to post this article is that it says that

rosacea is not a disease but a cutaneous stigmata. Stigmata doesn't

sound too nice in a sense because one of the definitions of it is

that's the plural of stigma. It can feel like that. There is another

definition of it in some religions where it's the highest honor a

person can get. The person whom the city I lived in is named after (I

live in San Francisco), received stigmata as the highest gift and a

thing of beauty. I think that Wilkin is using the word in the poetic

sense myself. I didn't want to hurt anyone if anyone thought of the

common definition. The article is very interesting.
