Guest guest
Hi Rob, I have mild ocular rosacea and am able to wear contacts. There are others in the group with OR who can wear them too, but be careful. I use Refresh Plus Drops for Sensitive Eyes twice a day -- once when I get up in the morning and once before I go to bed. I also use Refresh Contacts for Sensitive Eyes twice a day. These drops help keep my eyes comfortable and moisturized. I also occasionally use OcuSoft Lid Scrubs for Sensitive Eyes as recommended by Dr. Nase. These are great at removing that irritating, sandy debris that many of us get. They are also great at removing eye make-up. Some people use baby shampoo & washclothes to remove this debris, but I found this technique to be very irritating. I had a bad bout of ocular rosacea & blepharitis for three months at exactly this time last year -- my first bout. I took doxcycyline for 6 weeks and Tobrex (sp ?) for one week and this combo knocked it out. I also take supplements as recommended by Dr. Nase, including Vitamins C & E, and I believe that these help. It is very important to find a good eye doctor if you have ocular rosacea who actually knows what the disease is and how to treat it -- not as easy as it should be. I also strongly recommend that you order Dr. Nase's book (if you haven't already), as it contains quite a bit of info on ocular rosacea. Good luck, Heidi P.S. I also keep my contact lenses scrupulously clean and dispose of them frequently. All of this costs big bucks, but those of us with rosacea are used to shelling out our hard-earned cash for this grossly-misunderstood malady.
