Guest guest
ISLET TRANSPLANTATION COMES TO CALIFORNIA SOURCE: University of California, San Francisco This May, the Diabetes Center at UCSF will mark an historic occasion, with the completion of the new UCSF Islet and Cellular Transplantation Center the first in Northern California. Recent developments in islet transplantation have placed it as our best hope for a true and lasting cure for diabetes. Around the world, islet transplantation has now allowed more than 30 diabetics to discard their needles, live free from daily insulin injections and, at last, lead healthy, normal lives. It has given a fresh, new hope to the 16 million Americans and approximately 1.5 million Californians who live with diabetes and its devastating complications. The UCSF Islet and Cellular Transplantation Center will make islet transplantation available to our patients in California and throughout the west, so they too may share in this new-found hope. This new state-of-the art facility will provide the tools and resources so UCSF's top scientists may pursue the research that will solve the remaining obstacles towards making islet transplantation available to all those who need it. The new Islet and Cellular Transplantation Center is a symbol of both our hope and our confidence that diabetes' days are indeed numbered. Mark E. Armstrong NW Rep, PAI www.top5plus5.com casca@...
