U of Mich GI Appt-disappointing

I had my appt w/GI Specialist at U of Mich today and feel disappointed. She

was a nice person and believed that I have had 5 acute pancreas attacks (even

though only the last one was dx in the ER). She believes that since I had my

gallbladder out and have not had an acute attack since then, that it is not

my pancreas causing me ongoing pain. She said usually people who have

pancreatitis caused from the gallbladder don't have any ongoing pancreas

problems - having the gallbladder out stops the attacks. I said, can't a

person have damage after several attacks and she said not if it is caused

from your gallbladder. I would think that it wouldn't matter what the cause

of the many attacks were - as each attack may cause damage no matter what the

cause? Now she thinks there is a problem with my stomach and wants me to take

previcid and wants to do an upper Endoscopy Oct 23. I don't think I am going

to keep the appt. I asked her if it could be sphinter of oddi - she said

with that I would have very bad attacks like pancreatitis - not ongoing daily

pain. I just want to find a doctor who will believe that my pain could be

caused by my pancreas based on the # of attacks I have had and my symptoms. I

don't really want an ERCP right now because the pain has only been severe

enough for pain meds for a couple of weeks since April 24,02. But I do have

pain almost everyday at different levels of intensity - but I tolerate it.

How do I go about finding a doctor who will validate my feelings? If I went

to see Dr. G. Lehman - do you think he would be inclined to believe me - or

would he have to do an ERCP? If I have one done, it is going to be by someone

who gets it correct the first time. I would appreciated any comments.

Thanks!
