Guest guest
Somebody asked if the SCD was useful for people with fibromyalgia. I asked a friend of mine who has fibromyalgia and is on the SCD to respond. She wrote the following: -------------------------------------- I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome along with IBS. I began SCD in July 2004 and have been on it ever since (though I'm beginning to relax the rules a tiny bit - whether this is wise or not I don't know.) My experience is that the symptoms of fibromyalgia can be triggered by numerous issues, including gut issues. It is well worth it to start SCD if you have the energy, because it can really help with yeast overgrowth if you also minimize honey, fruits, cheese, wine, etc. I sometimes still have bouts of cramping along with muscle pain, headache, exhaustion etc. But I've gotten stronger - my baseline seems to be better and the flareups shorter - and SCD is one of the factors in that. Other things that have been helpful in my recovery: a gentle exercise program guided by a physical therapist who specializes in chronic illness. A book called Freedom from Fibromyalgia by Selfridge. Meditation. Sauna. Quality supplements and hormonal support prescribed by my wholistic doctor. Minimizing exposure to chemicals and pesticides and mold. Laughing and playing. I hope this helps!
