Guest guest
January 1, 2003 Hello to all, Starting today, a daily reading, thought, mediation, etc., will be posted to promote a point of discussion in your posts. It will also be part of the discussion at the nightly chat room. I know, hundreds of you have regularly made an effort to drop by the chat room every night to find no one there. Well, I had so much fun at the NYE party last night that I'll be back. The nightly discussion takes place ion the chat room from 8:30pm to 9:30pm. The room, however, is available 24/7 for your use. We have received many letters from the members requesting the room be moderated so real time chatting can occur. They reminded us that the PAI has taken a proactive approach to achieve its goals of providing support, information, and advocacy to those suffering with the disease of Pancreatitis. The PAI top5plus5 library of information offers extensive resources to promote informed health care decisions. The PAI top5plus5 Chat room offers an ad free environment to promote networking and peer support. It should be utilized for all it offers. We want you to know that the PAI does read your letters and takes in to consideration your suggestions and recommendations. We can't guarantee that the Chat room will be moderated during that hour, but we will make our best effort. The administration also suffers with Pancreatitis and the inconsistent pain that affects us makes it impossible to make any 100% commitment. We'll do out best. The PAI has several goals for 2003. I feel strong that they will come to fruition. That is because of so many people's willingness to help and give that extra %. A few of those goals are: 1. Finalize nonprofit status, obtaining 501C3 certification. 2. Establish an incorporated accounting department. 3. Implement easy pay systems through the website to accept financial donations, sell merchandise, deliver money to Representatives for state support, and more. 4. Publish the PAI Guide to The Care & Treatment of Pancreatitis. 5. Implement the Pancreatitis in the Schools Project with federal grant assistance. 6. Extend the PAI services to focus on community outreach, speakers bureau, hospital visitation program, local face to face support groups, and telephone support. 6. Establish the Laurie Steinbacher Foundation. 7. Hold the 4th Annual 2003 Annual Symposium on Pancreatitis. 8. Establish joint contract with pharmaceutical firm for Medication Assistance Program. 9. Successfully have Pancreatitis added to the listing of impairments for Disability. 10. Establish PAI contact person in each US State. I look forward to getting to know each of you better and hearing everyone's story. May this find you and yours well, Karyn E. , RN Founder / Executive Director Pancreatitis Association International Corp.
