Guest guest
Hey all, Long time no talk to. I have been reading all of the posts...hardly get a minute to post myself (Jim doesn't get on the computer too much). Anyways, we have a question for anyone that has had this surgery...Jim had his pancreas out, along with his appendix, gallbladder and spleen on August 19, 2002 by Dr. Sutherland in MN. The pancreatic pain (usually left sided and in his back) is completely gone. He requires no insulin. The problem he is having is pain in other places now...primarly on his right side. He was in the hospital for exactly 3 weeks in MN..when he left, he was doing quite well...mostly pain at the incision site. That pain has subsided (pretty much totally gone)...He just has this " other " pain now that can't seem to be explained. He was switched from Viokase to Pancrease (enteric coated) and that really settled his stomach alot. The pain he has is not related to food...it's not as bad as the pain before the surgery, but it's still pain and still keeps him down and in bed often. We were curious if anyone else was experincing any other forms of pain after having this surgery? We read 's message #37743 and she seems to have alot in common with Jim in this regards. Jim goes to his Upper GI doctor again this friday, jan. 3rd. He recently had an EGD and UGI last month but both were normal?? How puzzling is this??? Any responses would be most appreciated. I now emailed Dr. Sutherland to get his input...I'll keep you all posted on Jim more. Jim really want's to return to work ---his goal was March...We're crossing our fingers that this will somehow just go away! Again, although we haven't posted frequenly, we read the posts regularly. HAPPY NEW YEAR to all of you and may this new year be full of new breakthroughs for all sufferers of CP! Lorrie & Jim Pittsburgh, PA
