Guest guest
Hello, all! I just spent an hour on the phone with my insurance company and surgeon's office - can we say HEADACHE!!! Why is it that you can never get a straight answer from anyone? I gave the insurance company the code for the auto islet transplant, and they said they couldn't tell me if it was covered. " We don't do that. " What do they do? I cancelled my Puestow/Partial (whichever one he was going to do) for October 11. I just can't justify having a procedure that is more than likely going to throw me into diabetes. For right now, I don't have that disease (Thank God), so I just wish to keep it that way. My surgeon told me that I would more than likely end up with diabetes if I have the partial pancreatectomy. He thought this would be the procedure he would have to do, because of the stricture around my pancreatic duct. So, anyway, I asked his med asst. if he refers patient to pain mgmt. docs. She said she would ask. I just told her it wasn't feasible for me to drive to Louisville everytime I have pancreatitis and that the ER thinks I'm a drug addict. He is the only pancreatic surgeon in a fairly close range to me, and he is so caring - but, he is caught up in not treating long term pain. So, she's checking. I just can't run up there in the middle of an attack and wait for an hour or three in his lobby for him to write me a prescription! Sorry for the ranting - I guess I just know you guys have to deal with the same junk all the time, as well. I'm going home and on to church. Maybe I'll feel better tonight. No meds for two whole days! Yeah! Prayers for pain-free days to all of you- in KY
