Adam, is Nisocym a presp. drug and does it help body rashes in place

of a steriod and how does it compare to protopic for body rashes?

ALSO; maybe everyone should increase their antibiotics when starting

photoderm treaments etc. or at least at the first sign of a flare.

We have heard from people who flared while taking photoderm now lets

here from people who haven't flared while taking it, Is their any

good stories out there, don't be lazy, respond to group! Thanks!

Nicosyn is a prescription drug. I do not know if it will help with body

rashes or not. Its a brand new drug, and basically all I know about it is

whats on the package insert. Its only indications are for Acne Vulgaris,

Acne cea, and Seborrheic dermatitis. If it works for all those things

though, it makes sense that it might work for other skin conditions. its

active ingredients are Sulfur and Sodium Sulfasetamide. Dr Nase recommends

these ingredients for treating acne, papules, pustules, seborrheic

dermatitis, and perioral dermatitis to name a few. I don't know if it will

work on other rashes or not.

I'm not sure how it would compare to protopic. I'm sure they'd definitely

act differently. Sulfur and Sodium Sulfasetamide basically sluff off the

bad skin. Sort of like a bit gentler form of salicylic acid (Which will

really mess up a cea face) I would guess the Nicosyn would dry your

skin out similar to the way an acne medication would, so if your skin is

already extremely dry, this may not be the best way to go. Nicosyn is brand

new so there probably aren't alot of success or failure stories out there.

It just hit the shelves w/in the week. As far as which would be better for

you, protopic or nicosyn, I think that would have to be a trial and error

thing.

Also, I have had really bad flares after each of my photoderm treatments.

If I want to have a CHANCE at not flaring the first week to ten days or so,

I need to avoid EVERYTHING. two hours in front of a computer screen will

turn me dark purple. I take 100mgs of Minocycline 2x daily. I do notice

that my worst flares now are my comp and the sun. The sun is horrible! I

cant make a 20 minute drive on a partially cloudy day in the middle of

winter wearing suntanlotion without it hurting my face, so maybe the minocin

is causing a little bit of photosensitivity. I'm stopping or reducing my

minocin as of today (not sure which im gonna do) for one week on a totally

unrelated matter (to see if its causing any of the problems with my arm

etc). I will let you know if that effects my flaring.
