She went on Prednisolone and we started the diet the same day. After a week on Prednisolone we started her on the Yogurt which she handled just fine. Once off the drug she couldn't tolerate it and we've ommitted it. She has an allergy to Milk which complicates matters. We are going to try just a small 1/8 teaspoon in another couple weeks to see if she can handle it. Probably we will do the nut yogurt or goat yogurt first. When you hear to go slowly with the yogurt its the truth. Small small amounts when off the drug is our experience. We're still hopeing Ella will handle it next time we try. We did find that she could tolerate most raw fruits on the drug then couldn't without the drug. We're novices so others with more experience could tell you more I " m sure. I can tell you that Ella is only on the diet at this time. She had a bout of D caused by too much yogurt and some Harvarti cheese. When we went back to the INtro diet and the basics she healed herself without the drugs. We saw a steady progression of less stools and finally formed stools 4 days after her flare. Guest guest
Hello, I am seventeen and also just starting the diet accually it will be 7 days tommorrow since I started it. The yogurt does not make me ill, it's not my favorite stuff to eat that is for sure but I haven't had a reaction to it. Of course we all react differntly so like you said just take it slow and see what happens. I am taking my lunch to school, and I can tell you that some days are alot easier than others. The best tip I can give is make sure there plenty of food avaliable. Some days I am really hungry by the time lunch rolls around and other days I am perfectly fine with just a little bit of food. The problem becomes if you are really hungry you can't just go buy something else to eat like all the other kids. That would be my biggest tip. My school has a microwave availible so that makes things lots easier too. If you have anynore questions or your daughter needs someone to ask just pass them my way I would be glad to help! If you want to try the yogurt starting with a tiny amount is a good idea. The problem that some people have is that they start with too much of the yogurt and it overwhelms their system. 1/8 tsp or 1/4 tsp may seem like a tiny amount, but even those amounts have lots of good bacteria and for some it can cause die off (hence the recommendation of small amounts). If she does okay with those amounts you can gradually increase it. The maximum Elaine suggested was about 2 C/day for children and 3 C/ day for adults. I am nervous now after reading some posts. I send juice boxes filled with legal juices or yogurt smoothies. Ripe bananas, cheese, homemade applesauce, apples.
