Guest guest
, I'm a preop. I've searched through all the emails I have received regarding hotels and have culled and compiled the info here for you with the email address of the person who stayed there. Who is your mom? Did you have the mgb? If so what are your statistics? Thanks Janice marykgage@... ( Gage) - I had my MGB on 6/9/00 and stayed at the ExtendedStay American on Tower Blvd. Osler - mgb 2/21/00 Boingy300@... I don't know if this helps, but I stayed at the Fairfield Inn (no indoor pool),near I-40. It seemed to me the Homewood suites was a better deal overall, because it included a full breakfast(Not just a bagel) and also included heavy h'dorves(?,took spanish and latin). It also has a microwave and fridge in the room-seemed like a much better deal to me.. Jane Wojo - JANEWOJO@... - Red Roof Inn is reasonable and very nice. We paid around $200 for 7 nights...they gave us a weekly rate. Bring a coffe maker and a hot pot. You can warm your soup in it. $14 at Walmart. DO NOT STAY AT THE HOWARD JOHNSON'S..IT'S A DUMP. WE CHECKED OUT. THE PATIO DOORS DID NOT LOCK AND THE MANAGER TOLD US THAT THEY'RE ALL LIKE THAT AND MADE NO ATTEMPT TO FIX IT. - lindat@... - I stayed at Extended Stay Inn on Tower Boulevard. The cost is $272 (total, after taxes) for one week for one person and it is about $20 more for the week to add another person. The room is on a par with a Days Inn or Red Roof Inn -- not spartan and ugly, nice but not plush. It has a kitchen and it is located across the street from South Square Mall and within 2 blocks of a 24-hour Kroger and several restaurants and fast-food places. However, I just read today where someone found a *much* better dealat 1-888-Medstay, that has a free buffet breakfast, lunch and a pool, so I'd try that first!Rental Cars: The best price for one-week on Rental Cars was from Dollar Rental Car at the airport. You could get a small truck for $149 a week or a small car for $172 for the week. I lucked out because they were out of small cars so I got a mini-van for the same price for the whole week and 1 day I was in Durham. Dee - yarnmama@... - I stayed at the Extended StayAmerica on Tower Rd., just across from the South Square Mall. Movie theatres, drugstores, shopping out the wahzoo! Near the Macaroni Grill, a Mexican restaurant...and right off one of the main highways. It was $239 a week for the kitchenette. I didn't have any difficulties and the folks who run it are very nice. I also used a local cab driver who was ALWAYS on time, courteous, reasonably priced...and a Christian family man. Let me know if you'd like his number. I used his taxi exclusively while there. He was very reliable. The Extended StayAmerica is just about 20 minutes from Durham Regional, no matter which highway you take...there are two which straddle the area that Tower Road is on Blalock - melanieblalock@... - I am having surgery on July 10. In the process of reserving a hotel room, I called the Fairfield Inn by Marriot. I found out that they just started a medical discount. It is $39 a night plus tax regardless of the type of room. The number is (919)382-3388. Their address is 3710 Hillsborough. Jackie - rcsmit@... - We stayed at the Red Roof Inn on Guess Rd. only because we have a 14yr. Old poodle whe requires 2 insulin injections a day so we had to bring her with us. This hotel was clean and cheap and the did not charge us for the extra night we had reserved, even though it was after one o'clock when I decided to leave the hospital. Sophia - NEWKAT2001@... - I traveled from NYC and stayed at Extended Stay America. From Laguardia it was a straight flight so it was very nice but lonely (I came in by myself!). If you are with someone, you will have a blast! Ext. Stay is in front of a mall... They have a microwave, stove, pots and pans to cook and a fridge for your yogurt. Deena Ackley - dackley@... - My husband and I stayed at the Welleslesly (sp?) out on Miami Blvd. It is in the triangle. We found a $49 a night internet rate. It was a beautiful room. Nice plush dark green carpet, a king sized bed, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, kitchen stuff. A great pool and laundry room with free breakfast in the morning. Staterc@... - Cindy Stater. - We stayed at the Carolina Duke Motor Inn. It was about $42.00 per night. It was three miles from the hospital. They have special rooms for surgical patients. Jane McShane - McJaneygrl - I live in Wisconsin so I stayed at the Homewood Suites until Saturday, had Dr. R take out my staples and flew home.
