DS3's diet

My DS3 is a neurotypical celiac (not diagnosed officially as celiac, but he

had almost every typical symptom including distended abdomen, lack of a

rear-end and others). He is IgA allergic to gluten as well as casein and

eggs. He's been GFCF and egg free for 15 months. He also showed signs of a

kiwi allergy (same as with egg - a bright red anus) before SCD.

We originally started SCD in Aug. 2005, but went a little too fast with

reintroducing foods so we restarted Nov. 29th. Part of my reason for

wanting to do SCD was to avoid paying for IgG testing. I figured that I

could just watch as each food was added in. We did see the red anus with

spinach and mushrooms also since starting SCD.

His stools for most of his life have been very mushy - typical celiac

stools, basically. These past few months, he's finally been having nicely

formed BMs regularly. Yay!

So far, he can only handle meats, broth, pureed carrots, zucchini,

applesauce, pearsauce, bananas, tomato sauce (but not tomatoes), bell

peppers, gelatin (aka jell-o), occasional almond flour cookies and sort of

butternut squash (the edges of his stools became ragged with the

butternut). The following have caused his stools to go soft or D again:

green beans (french cut), mashed peas (whole peas went straight through),

tomatoes, acorn squash, pumpkin. All this is fixed according to the

pecanbread guidelines - peeled, deseeded, cooked. Also, the Applegate

Turkey hot dogs caused D.

So, how long can he go with just eating these few foods? He pretty much has

carrots at every meal (along with meat) and the other carbs are mixed in at

random. We just added enzymes in the past few weeks and have built up to

the full dose. We're using Zyme Prime. I need to order the AFP Peptizyde

for him.

I'm kind of getting nervous now with his limited diet going so long, but

maybe it's okay? That's what I would like to know.

Thanks!

Steph

Hi Steph,

Did he have any other symptoms beside the red anus? - itchy rash,

diarrhea, stomach aches etc.?

Have you tried eggs again since being on SCD?

Does he take any probiotics or nut yogurt?

It is suggested to wait an entire year after the last symptom has disappeared.
