Guest guest
Would Elaine approve of supplementing children with glutatione along with the SCD? It appears from her writings that she believed that your body can only use it's own glut. If you can/should supplement, how much (6 year old) and in what form? ~Jill
Guest guest
I have some research I will dig up that says that fresh, organicdill helps your body to make it's own glutathione. Maybe we should all make some homemade dill pickles...? Would this be SCD legal? Guest guest
I would find a doctor who can do this testing. This is standard practice with ND's specializing in developmental delays and food/immune allegies and disease and DAN doctors. Our doctor uses a variety of labs, including a local lab and Great Smokies, I wouldn't know the best to recommend. A comphresensive amino profile can be done at most ND's offices, and DAN docs. I believe that the amino-acid profile test is the most significant first step in working on a treatment protocol, and working from there. Supplementing glutathione does nothing if you are unaware of amino imbalances. The body can only process so much vitamin c at one time, so small doses throughtout the day is generally more effective. I am not a medical doctor, and I am still working on my nutrition studies, and therefore unable to recommend an amount of vitamin c for your child, for her particular needs and condition. Ester C contains all the bioflavonoid complexes. If your daughter has an orange and grapefruit allergy, it may be a bit harder to find an ester-c she can tolerate. One rich form of vitamin c and flavonoids is from rose hips, they are actually much higher in vitamin c than oranges. If interested, I would look for a supplement that is made from rose hips. The better choice is Ester-C, but you have to take into account what your daughter can take and what you can find. A powdered rose hip supplement may work for her, though. Good luck to you! I was trying to convince my dr. to do the Advanced Metallothionein Profile or the Glutathione test from Great Plains labs but is the test you are recommending better? Also, I am supplementing my daughter's diet with Vitamin C capsules (hypoallergenic) from Kirkman because she has a small allergy to oranges and grapefruit. I am supplementing 1250 mg/day for a 6 year old...is that too much or about right in your estimation. What is Ester-C? Is that a better choice?
