I, as well as many people, have had adverse reactions to it while using it long term. I would hope that your Dr. requests blood tests periodically, but even if he does, double check to make sure he runs the kidney test. AFAIK, if you need a medicine, and Pentasa is a good one, you should take it. If you found out that it's really problematic SCD-wise, please let me know. If it is, you can see if you can get it made in a compounding pharmacy.
