Guest guest
> I am writing to inquire about a peticular pain my mother has been having since yesterday. She is a very slight woman at only about 84lbs. and has been having really bad pains she decribes as similar to labor pains. Severe Cramping, back pain... She has CP and is still under going tests. She is scheduled for a colonoscopy next month. She has a lot of scar tissue on her intestines, stomach and pancreas due to past surgeries. > > Do these pains sound familiar to any of you or is she dealing with a totally seperate issue? > Thanks for your time, > Lanie Lanie, How long has your mother had CP, and has she experienced this type of pain before? I'm sorry that I don't remember her particular situation in regard to the length of time she has had CP. Severe cramping and back pain is a very typical complaint of pancreatitis pain. As to finding it similar to labor pains, yes, though it's been 26 years, I guess you could say they are similar. If she has not experienced this type of pain before, and it continues, it might indicate the onset of a more serious attack, and it would be something that needs to be brought to the attention of her doctor. I hope this helps. With hope and prayers, Heidi Heidi H. Griffeth South Carolina hhessgriffeth@... Southeastern Regional Representative Pancreatitis Association, Intl. http://www.pancassociation.org/storieshome.html#Heidi Thank you for responding Heidi. I think that this was the worst the pain has gotten. She just got diagnosed after years of pain and vomitting. She had emergency stomach surgery around 11 years ago after her ulcers got so bad that it ate thru her stomach and part of her pancreas. She was about an hour away from having stomach acid poison her system and dying. About 4 years ago she went to the doctor and had her stomach checked again because of not feeling well and vomiting. He said she was fine and maybe should speak to someone regarding her stress. In other words, he blew her off and she has suffered for years in fear of doctors. I finally got her back to a doctor but he doesn't really get the job done. He is testing her for this and that, but hasn't even sat her down and talked to her about any of this. Basically he said you have Chronic Pancreatitis, take these enzymes. We only know what we know due to you all and my research. Well, thats about all of it. We would appreciate any and all advice you have to give. Thanks again, Lanie
