It's been discussed here before, cxhforever. Topical clindamycins

such as cleocin or clindagel are another antibiotic like

metronidazole, usually prescribed if first-line metronidazole can't

be used or isn't effective, or if acne vulgaris is thought to be

present alongside the rosacea. But some practitioners may just prefer

it for their patients. It's a reasonable question to ask your doctor,

why s/he started you off on topical clindamycin and not the more

traditional metronidazole, although you may not care since it sounds

like it's at least partially effective.

I have used Cleocin/Clindamycin/Clindagel. They are all topical

forms of Clindamycin. My preference is Clindagel as it has a water

base, while Cleocin has alcohol in its base (which may explain why

it's not necessarily helping the redness). I alternate between using

Clindagel and Noritate.
