Guest guest
This is my first post to the board. I developed cea about 2 years ago when I first noticed flushing on my nose and chin. Since then, I have taken several rounds of antibiotics and used Metrolotion daily. This has helped alot but when I started taking Elavil, my facial flushing virtually disappeared. As the flushing subsided, so did the dry, flakey facial skin and breakouts. I have no idea what " caused " my cea, but my mom has it so I suspect it was a combination of genetics and severe physical (I just had my appendix removed)and mental stress. My nose will still flush at certain times but not nearly as much as it used to. I noticed a post several days ago by someone who mentioned having red hands and feet and just wanted to add that I suffer from this too. It started about the same time as my rosacea, but has just gotten worse instead of better. My hands turn beet red when I exercise, when the temperature in a room gets a little too warm, when I am close to a hot appliance like the stove or iron and sometimes just for no reason at all. My derm says it is not related to cea and he took several blood tests. All came back negative except for a positive ANA (screening test for autoimmune disease). He then did further testing for more specific autoimmune diseases like Lupus, Scleroderma, Rheumatiod Arthritis etc. and all came back negative. He passed me along to a Rheumatologist and since I did not have any other symptoms except for the hand flushing, she said she did not think it was autoimmune in nature. Also, they ruled out Erythormalalgia because I have no pain or burning in my hands. SO....now she has passed me along to an Endocrinologist to test for endocrine tumors or hormonal inbalances. Because of all the flushing my hands look like I am 70 years old (I'm 38) and are terribly wrinkled. I disagree with my derm about the cea and hand flushing being unrelated. My opinion is that somehow this is all automimmune related and no one has figured it out yet. I can certainly relate to everyone here who is frustrated with doctors who dont help and act as if they are not interested Sorry, I don't mean to rant so much in my very first post, but I am just tired of trying to find answers. Thanks for listening. Kit
