Guest guest
Hi Carolyn, I apologise for sending this post to you so late. I have been really, really busy recently with other commitments. My experiences with food are that I react to all foods that have any additives, preservatives, sugars (including natural sugars) and starches and dyes in them. For now, it seems my body is very sensitive to whatever I put in it, including caffeine, fruit juices etc. So, I'll list what I do eat, which is yoghurt (24 hr), nut flour, organic meats with no preservatives in them (sometimes a bit of a challenge), fresh fish (cod and halibut) and a few vegetables, such as zuchinni and cauliflower mash. I don't have much variety in my diet, but I am just so relieved to be able to think straight, and function normally. I hope this helps, SCD 7+ months -- ***** POSSIBLE SPAM ***** Re: Emotional Reactions Hi , Welcome to the group! I'm very interested in what foods set you off - what foods causes you to become completely unreasonable, irrational, angry, etc. I've just started the diet 2 weeks ago for my IBS and I will put my daughter (age 9) on it soon. I have a theory that, for a large number of people, the wrong foods cause a lot of emotional and mental illnesses. I think that as our society has eaten more and more fake foods (foods with fake ingredients: crisco, aspartame, margarine, olestra, etc.) that the mental health of our nation has declined (but I am just guessing - I haven't researched if mental health diagnosis' are increasing). In addition to what people are eating (fake ingredients), what people are NOT eating is also a factor. Poor nutrition may be the cause for a lot of mental illness. For example: for years the best drug for bipolar disorder was Lithium, which is a mineral. I was shocked when I realized that a mineral was so powerful. That led me to think that maybe people just weren't getting the right nutrients from food, or maybe they were eating the right nutrients but they weren't able to absorb them. I hope that you will share your experiences with us. Carolyn SCD - 2 weeks >Primarily the reason I >started the diet - recommended from a Naturopath- was because my reactions >to foods are mostly emotional/behavioural rather than physical. When I eat >the wrong foods, I become completely unreasonable, irrational, paranoid and >angry, almost rage and I look angry as well. And this can happen within >ten to fifteen minutes after ingesting the foods. as well as not being able >to think clearly, extremely tired, weight loss ect. Yet, when I eat the >correct foods - SCD, I am completely okay and can think normally and >rationally.
