Guest guest
Scientists have identified a protein key to the formation of myelin, the substance that coats nerves, opening the Par-3 protein to possible manipulation to treat multiple sclerosis. Par-3 acts as an " organizing center " that brings together the necessary components for the formation of myelin, and cells were not able to form normal myelin when the Par-3 role was disrupted. Researchers now hope to identify the other components involved. HealthDay News excerpt from AANP SmartBrief
