Guest guest
Ellen, I have done a quick search of our library and I can send you all we have on farmworkers in Colorado. Just e-mail me at shepherd@... with the address you want the materials sent to, and I will send you what we have. I can also send you a list of what I have as well, unfortunately, with the exception of a few articles, a lot of it is fairly old. I'm looking for demograhic data, wages, migration routes (where they come from and going to), concentration of FW in Colorado, and any other useful information. I would appreciate any help and input. Guest guest
Hi, Ellen I remember talking to you a while back - I work in the Centennial BOCES Migrant Education Program in Weld, Larimer, and Boulder counties in northern Colorado. Here are some resources that may be useful: --Look for farmworker wages in the " " Job Vacancy Surveys " (JVS) from the Colorado Office of Workforce Development at the following website: http://www.state.co.us/gov_dir/wdc/public.htm -- keep in mind it's a government website, so it doesn't always take into account what people are really making " under the table " if they are undocumented, but it's a good start. You could compare the wages found here with the more detailed report (not specific to Colorado) from the National Agricultural Workers Survey (found at http://www.dol.gov/asp/programs/agworker/naws.htm) --An excellent report on adolescent FW: http://www.marshfieldclinic.org/nfmc/farmworkersreport/ --A Colorado Impact report on immigration: http://www.fairus.org/html/042coimpact.html -- good general information on migration to Colorado --Good information on migration patterns from the Migrant Clinician's Network: http://www.migrantclinician.org/background/migpatt.html I hope that helps a little bit (you still have to read alot!). I know Josh Shepherd will give you tons of information, too. But he's right -- there's not alot of recent information out there, especially at the state-by-state level (and especially in Colorado). If I find anything else, I will send it along.
