My doctor said that all of the sinus cavities aren't even formed until they

are 4-5 years old. He wouldn't touch them until she was older. Now things

have just cleared up. Traci is on periactin, flovent and Nasaral and we

always use a mask for nebbies

Hi Everyone,

Shaelin got back from his " routine " pulmonary visit which consisted

of flu shot, throat culture, CXR, sinus films and labs and the MD

called to say his sinuses are totally blocked and that he needs to

have a sinus CT scan and probably surgery to clean them out. He has

been on Ceftin for 1 month which she is continuing for an additional

month and he just completed his 6th round of TOBI as he has been

positive for pseudononas since last January.

Has anyone had experience with this surgery in a child this young?

Do you know what is involved, the recurrence rate, etc? His CT is

scheduled for next week but we don't meet with the ENT surgeon until

next month. Any information would be welcome.

Thanks,

Jeanne (foster mom to 19 m wcf)

Jack had the surgery before he was 1yr. He cultured for HIGH staph and

remained in for 2 weeks. Be prepared for something like that. If the baby

is that impacted they may want to keep him in for IV antibiotics.
