Marissa,

I have a question for you. I saw on the posts that

you had the tail of your pancreas removed. The

doctors are talking about taking my husband's tail of

his pancreas. He is 29 and has been chronic for

almost 2 years, he has had 6 ERCP's and is getting

ready to have his 7th in October to remove the last

stint that was placed in. The stint is in the tail of

his pancreas. He is a chronic sufferer due to a

narrowing of his pancreatic duct.

Our last admission to the hospital was for fever, pain

and nausea. His doctor was out of town that week but

the doctor on call performed and ERCP to put in a

stint in the tail. All we heard all week was that he

needed this surgery to take the tail out. When his

doctor came back and we saw him in the office he said

that surgery was an option but because he was so young

he would like to leave the pancreas whole for as long

as possible.

He has been home with this attack since the last week

of august and just this week has seemed to inprove.

Of course he is still very weak and trying to get his

strengh back.

We go to see a pancreatic surgeon this coming tuesday

to see what his take is on the situation. The

hospital that we go to is town Unversity in

Washington DC. I trust his GI doctor very much as he

has all ready saved my husbands life once last year

when a attack led to a blockage of the bile duct.

This caused his liver to back up and almost shut down

on him. They performed an ERCP that cleared that

blockage and he went through a seris of stints. This

attack he is trying to get get over now, seemed to

have cause an infection in his pancreas. So far the

anticbotics are working and the fever is gone and the

pain is gone.

I have a few questions, one was it worth it? What was

the process? and why did they decide to do this in yor

case? Also did is help with the attacks and the pain?

I have been searching for someone like you to ask

these questions and get an opinion if someone who has

been there. I hope that you will take the time to

tell me your story. Yo can also email me at joejenring@....

Thank You,

in land
