Increased permeability of the small bowel is a real entity, but the resultant symptoms and disease states are far, far different than food intolerances and allergies. The normal GI tract is already permeable, and has normal areas that are primed for immune activity. I agree with the poster who explains the association between rosacea and GI symptoms by longterm antibiotic use. Also, both rosacea and GI symptoms are common, so many who have one are likely to have the other. I don't know that rosaceans not on antibiotics are more likely to suffer from GI symptoms than the general population. That's not to say that there isn't a relatioinship between diet and facial rash. I do think there may be something to avoiding food allergies/intolerances and improvement in dermatitis, although I don't believe the skin pathology is rosacea. The dermatitis may have features of chronic inflammation, and may be misdiagnosed, but I don't think (like others do here, I know) that this is a major concern for mainstream rosaceans, or gets us closer to understanding the disorder. Another poster mentioned a particular skin disorder associated with celiac disease. That's an interesting thought. I've never seen in clinically, but I have it on my " to do " list to look into further.
