Hi,

Got my Herbacort yesterday. It's appealing looking. I was going to wait a

few days, since I've been trying the " green tea " treatment on my recently

and persistently flaky cheeks. (it actually does seem to work...thanks to

whoever posted that!.) however, after putting my usual moisturizer on this

morning, my face started getting red, warm with some raised red bumps. I was

surprised since my face has been very calm. Anyway, I had not put my usual

patting of almond oil on this morning so the moisturizer went on bare skin.

I've been suspecting that this stuff was causing a bit of irritation and

some red bumps but wasn't quite sure (been using it a year) and because it

is the only thing I've been able to wear reliably, I've gone with it.

However in the last few days, based on some posts I've read here, I think it

is the petroleum causing some redness/heat and lanolin alcohol causing the

bumps (007's article about comodogenic stuff rang a bell...lanolins were on

the list...) so I went right back to the bathroom sink and washed it all off

with distilled water. Put on some of the herbacort and happily, I can report

that it immediately felt very soothing, the redness calmed right down and

within a short time (hour or two??) the red bumps disappeared. My face felt

comfortable all day.

The other big news is that, even though I sat in an office all day

underneath a vent, the top layer of my face did not get flaky and tight as

it has been lately. (for the last week or two I've been patting oil on

several times a day to keep it from drying out and getting real red...) my

face I have to say did look markedly paler....

Of course one day is way to soon to tell, and I'm a skeptic as regards

products, but I am hoping it will be one I can use for a while! I'd like to

ditch the clinique moisturizer and see if some troubles that I just figured

were always going to be there might go away....

Thanks for the pillowcase warning. I'm not sure what I'll do....don't use a

pillowcase because they are too scratchy!

How much have you been putting on by the way and how do you apply it?

Here I have written a letter when I was just going to post a short

note...but there you are!

, that was pretty much the same reaction that I experienced after I

put the HerbaCort on for the first time. At that time, my face was

burning/itching/tingling and it felt very tight. I assume it was Nutraderm

causing this (even though years ago, I was on it for years, literally,

without problem). My face felt much calmer in about 2 hours. After a few

days on it, the feeling of tightness disappeared, too.

On Saturday it will be three weeks since I started using it and so far so

good.

> How much have you been putting on by the way and how do you apply it?

I am putting on very little and I spread it well (I stick with the less is

more approach), though I do cover my entire face. And it really feels good

as an eye cream, too. I just stick my finger in the jar - it is not the best

method, I know, at least I always wash my hands with soap beforehand. I

pretty much put it on only once a day, though if sometimes I do have the

itchy bumps, I apply a bit of H. during the day but only on that spot. On

most days, in the morning I wash with Cetaphil bar, apply Metrogel, then

Herbacort. At night, I wash with Cetaphil again and then proceed with my

cabbage regime. On the ad hoc day when I am too lazy at night, I use Metro

and HerbaCort after washing.

By the way, I originally estimated that the 50 g jar won't last longer than

2 weeks. I was wrong. A little goes a long way and I think it will last me 4

weeks easily.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Alena

P.S. I will send my ingredients list tonight
