Guest guest
TPN can be a mess as well! A lot of people that have a central line put in, sometimes end up with a bacterial infection that can really complicate things a lot. A few years ago, my wife had a doctor who put in a central line (which runs underneath the upper right chest) an he did not get an xray after the procedure to see if the line had been placed correctly. For seven hours, she lay alone in her room struggling to breathe and could not understand why. When I arrived for visitation, I asked her why she was having so much trouble breathing. She said she didn't have any idea why. I called for the nurse who in turn called the house doctor. He ordered an xray stat, which revealed that for seven hours she lay there with a hole in her lung, which let air inside her chest cavity and could have caused a heart attack because of the air pressure against the heart! Needless to say I was fucking furious, and was there the next day the doctor arrived for his morning rounds, at which time I did everything but threaten his life. I consulted with an attorney who said that unless any permanent harm had been done to my wife, a lawsuit would prove fruitless. Just a warning to those who use a central line...a simple xray can save a patient a whole lot of pain, worry, and needless suffering. Just because a guy is a doctor doesn't mean he knows what he's doing 100 percent of the time! I am cautious, even with those who claim to be the best or are touted as the best by those who use them. Adios!
