Guest guest
I had the same problem with my little girl. I had to talk to the teacher and to the pastor and wife about a list of kids & their allergies(there are a lot of them:( ) that needed to go up on the board in the room. Now, people are being more apt to look on the board before offering goodies and I always make a special yummy treat for her for only on Sundays, the PB brownies. I made it a point that I needed to be able to trust them with my daughter also and that we had been to other churches and left them due to them not being compassionate to our cause. I hope this helps. Guest guest
I would make an appointment with the senior pastor and children's pastor. During the meeting, I would explain to them that your children are on a special diet. They do not need to understand the medical aspect. They should treat your decision for your children with respect. Make sure that they understand that the diet has to be followed 100% and that you will be unable to attend on Wednesday nights if your wishes are not followed. The staff on Wednesdays should follow the directions that you give them, but if you have spoken with the leadership, I think that will help as well. It may also be necessary to place a DO NOT FEED ME sticker on their clothing for several weeks to make sure that everyone who works with your children on Wednesdays REMEMBERS which kids are not supposed to be fed. Guest guest
I have not made a meeting as such but have spoken, written, called etc. with these people and they are in support of the parents choices. Our pastors wife is head of childrens ministerys and she even talked about it at the last meeting with workers. I do like your sticker idea. I will have to come up with something really cute and creative so the kids like to wear them. Sandy M. Guest guest
We attend a huge church here and if the workers aren't familiar with my kids, they don't know about their special snacks. BUT they write a note on a name tag and put it on their backs that says 'NO SNACKS' upon my request, and the check in person will then give them the snacks I provided before service during snack time. Just one time did someone give my youngest some candy as he was walking out the door - and it ended up not being a big deal to get it away from him. They are really very good about nodding at parents before handing the candy over just to be sure - I think a lot of parents don't like their kids getting candy that late in the evening, whether they are on a diet restriction or not. Hope that helps! Robbie How to get others on board > We are very active in our church. Our two kids go to childrens church > on Sunday morning and Wed night. Guest guest
An explanation that might help also is 'he has a behavior disorder that is extrememly aggrivated by certain foods so it's very important that I provide his snacks.' Don't know if that helps, but it sounds convincing! Robbie How to get others on board > We are very active in our church. Our two kids go to childrens church > on Sunday morning and Wed night. Guest guest
I have explained to my family that he has a gut issue and this will hurt his tummy if we give it to him. Let them know you have been working really hard to heal their gut and one little thing will put you right back at the beginning. Best of luck. I know it is so hard!
