Guest guest
Someone was asking recently about how long it takes to note rosacea symptoms after eating an offending food. I'm well able to recognize offending foods because they sound like an explosion when they leave my stomach. However, the skin reaction isn't instantaneous although it appears to have a definite link. I get slightly redder over the course of that food passing through my intestinal tract with the facial redness peaking when that food is in the colon. (Keep in mind that I have ulcerative proctitis which may explain why my system flares its greatest when food passes over or possibly causes slightly irritated bowel portions.) After the food leaves my system, my complexion quickly clears at a steady pace so that I am considerably paler within minutes but never quite as pale the rest of the day as I would have been had I not eaten an irritant. The following day I'll wake up very pale and fresh and will generally remain that way unless I eat something irritating and start the process over again. Thus far I've identified three foods as systemic wide irritants for me: dairy (protein), bell/hot peppers, & tomatoes. My triggers aren't all dietary. If I get angry or really stressed, I'll stay red for a long time afterwards. I also suspect that the Avene cream I'm using is causing a slight redness, but perhaps it is just rubbing it into my skin that is the problem. Hope some of this is helpful...
