Hello everyone!

My name is Toula and I'm the mum of Katerina 5(asd - mild) and

Natasha 4(NT).We live in Australia and have been SCD since January

this year.SCD is not very common in Australia, in fact on another

yahoo group which I'm on for biomedical treatments in Autism I'm the

only mum who's child is on SCD. The only Australian SCD group has

only about 30 members in all of Australia and are only adults doing

the diet.So you can imagine what a relief it was for me to discover

the group!

We are on the diet because Katerina's blood showed high levels of

Homocysteine and the doctor recommended we try the diet to see if it

makes a difference.

To say it has been easy adjusting is an under statement! As we still

also continue to be GF,WF,CF,DF,Corn free,Soya free and also have

limited intake of certain fruits (salicilate issue) and can't have

tomato.

Our biggest issue is breakfast recipes.Apart from muffins and cakes

I make (all pre made and frozen as I work full time and don't have

time to make breakfast)I can't find other quick recipes so as to

offer her a variety of things. As we know some kids get sick of the

same thing everyday.

Also I'm confused as to whether or not Banana's are allowed?

I'm really glad to have found this group and appreciate your time.

Thankyou in advance for answering my question.

Toula.

Dear Toula,

Not sure if I'll be much help with the breakfast ideas - apart from maybe doing

some hard boiled eggs ahead of time, but wanted to let you know that I'm in

Canberra and have been doing SCD since January also (take 2).

Banana's are allowed as long as they are very ripe - with brown spots and no

green on the ends. My son can't tolerate them at the moment but we keep trying

every now and then. I'm also on the other Yahoo group you mentioned, (although

not a regular poster) so you're not alone on your SCD journey. Dr V suggested

we do SCD, just wondering if he's your DAN as well?

Take care,

Sharon (mum to Sam, 4, Developmental delays, SCD 10 weeks).

Hi, Toula,

Welcome! Try making some pancakes ahead, too, like Banana Pancakes

from Breaking the Vicious Cycle and check out the recipes and recipe

links at www.pecanbread.com.

For breakfast in our house, besides the bread I make ahead, we buy

legal goat cheddar and just melt it on a plate in the microwave

because my son loves it that way. Now that is quick!
