my surgeon

Hello all,

I had called my surgeon yesterday because my panc pain was getting worse and the

pain meds were not knocking it out like they normally do. I knew calling the GI

was pointless, they'd just tell me to go to the ER, which would likely be a big

waste of time and money. I didn't hear back from my surgeon yesterday but I

finally ended up falling asleep around 6 p.m. yesterday and when I woke up at 11

p.m. I felt much better. I slept through the night and had not had any pain med

since 3 p.m. I made a short run to Wal-mart and then went to get my nails done.

I needed a lighter nail color on since I'm having the colonoscopy on Tuesday.

They fussed at me when Ihad the ERCP done cause my polish was so dark, the

pulse-ox thing wouldn't work on my finger. Anyway, just as I got home, my

surgeon called on my cell phone. He had called the house and since I wasn't

home, hubby gave him my cell number. He apologized for not calling yesterday

and asked what was going on. I explained to him that I had been having

increasing pain but was now much better. He told me not to let the pain get bad

even if it means doubling up on the dose. He told me to be sure to callhim back

if I got worse again. He apologized for not being able to get in touch with the

GI doc to find out about the ERCP vs surgery issue for me. He assured me he

will talk to the GI on Monday and have an answer for me. He told me not to

hesitate to call him if I need him. I just wanted to cry. He is so

understanding and compassionate. I told him he just didn't know how much I

appreciate everything he's done for me. He said, " well, I really haven't done

anything for you yet. " I told him that just his understanding and compassion

was much more than anyone else has done and that it means the world to me. I

wish I could clone this guy and make him into every type of specialist anyone

would need!

Unfortunately, shortly after talking to him I started hurting again. It's not

as bad as it was yesterday, so hopefully the pain med will kick in shortly and

take care of it. It was nice getting out of the house for a bit, but I think

I'll probably just kick back and rest for the remainder of the day.
