Guest guest
Hi Angie, I really feel for you. All the things you must have to deal with besides rosacea. Even though my experience with rosacea has been my worst nightmare--I never had facial pain and I can't imagine having that on top of everything else. I know what it is like to have hormonal problems too, but nothing like you have experienced. Many people with high androgens and cystic ovaries (PCOS right?) take aldactone, but the pill can also be helpful for that. I know everyone is different, but I have really benefited from being on the pill. I think my natural hormones flucuate a lot and the pill keeps me nice and balanced. Because of that, my body does not overheat and I don't sweat a lot like I used to. That is my main rosacea trigger: internal heat. I take a pill called orthocept which is the same hormones every day--some birth control pills change the hormones weekly, which for me was not good. I was on one of those before and my face constantly broke out along with many pms type symptoms. For some people the pill actually clears up acne and helps facial hair growth. Many women take it to stop hot flashes--that is one benefit over aldactone--no flushing. I took aldactone last year for a week and had hot flashes from it--still getting over them--and I only took 50mg a day, I can't believe you took 500 at one point! I find it interesting that you had no rosacea flares when your period stopped--hormones are so complicated aren't they--anyway, the pill may not be for you, I don't know, but it's food for thought. Good luck with photoderm, I really hope that works for you. __________________________________________________
