Guest guest
School just phoned. Tom passed a blood clot, about 1 cm in size. They saved the sample, and say that he's acting fine. I called our GI doc (who's 3 hours away), and the GI's nurse wants him to be visually examined by the pedi. to confirm there's a fissure. Her thought is that it was a fissure caused by Saturday's constipation (where he passed fresh blood after painful straining). The fissure could have clotted to heal, and continued firm stools passing over this area would continue to cause pain and irritation. She recommended stool softeners, milk of magnesia, lots of water and fiber to soften his stools to the point of mushiness to allow the fissure to heal. Anyone have advice on this? We have an appt. with the pedi. at 2pm. Suzanne Tom 3, ASD, day 24 SCD, allergy restricted rotation diet
