Guest guest
1) anthistamines which halt the histamine response; e.g.Benedryl gen ic for diphenhydramine, for example, or one which causes less sleep iness, chlorpheniramine maleate, generic for Chlortrmeton 2) decongestants, such as pseudoephedrine constrict the capillaries, thus leaving more air space for a different reason than with antihis tamines; Afrin is another, a spray for the nasal passages 3) guaifenesin (I never get the spelling right!) which thins the mucus; if you do get the kind with dextromethorphan (sp?) in it-- that suppresses coughing. Read the labels as some varieties do have pseudoephedrine--which may be alright if the doctor recommends it-- can cause wakefulness, though. zThis is usually a syrup! Okay, so there are four kinds of medicines, not three! n Rojas
