Guest guest
, Your email was a wake up call for those of us unfortunate to have cheek and nose swelling. I developed cheek and nose edema in very short order after being diagnosed with mild rosacea; I also have ocular symptoms. I definitely agree there is an hormonal component. Although I never used to be a flusher, I have suffered from intermittent hot flashes since my first pregnancy at 32; I am now 39 and was recently diagnosed as perimenopausal by my ob-gyn. And I have always been very, very sensitive to heat, plus I sweat easily. The nose swelling started after a rigorous, six month kick-boxing course, which resulted in severe flushing. I didn't know at the time the damage I was doing to my face or I would have settled for being mildly overweight. I started taking the birth control pill last February to address these issues and because I knew that I would have to take accutane if the nose swelling continued. My cheek swelling stopped completely after taking the birth control pill, but I am still battling nose swelling a year later. How long did you experience nose and cheek swelling before they began to subside? Also, which birth control pill are you taking? I am taking Myrcette, but don't know if this is monophastic (sp?). Guess I'll have to call my ob-gyn tomorrow. I'm so glad that you have found relief. It just proves that we can all beat this if we perservere. If it's not too much trouble, could you email me directly? Heidi
