Guest guest
I Forgot to mention why I joined, after having no problems and feeling cured. A couple of nights ago, I went to a party and woke with a severe pain in my chest radiating from my back. The pain subsided with ibuprofen, but the next day I worried that the back pain was caused by my alcohol use earlier in the evening. Throughout the next day I felt fuller than normal. Guest guest
Giiday If you have pancreatitis, even just one or two attacks it is very wise to abstain from all alcohol. Alcohol is the number 2 cause of pancreatitis and can kill you if you take enuff of it. That you had an episode after a party where you had alcohol, it would seem wise to abstain completely. Another serious acute attack will kill 1/7 of what pancreas you have left. It may also lead you to chronic pancreatitis and I can tell you, it is not a nice place to be if you enjoy working and freedom to eat and leave the house, some of us have lost that already! Guest guest
Gidday Thanks for the welcome. I have had pancreatitis since May 95 and happen to be one of the lucky ones who gets pain 24/7. Yesterday I got out of hospital from a Celiac Plexus Block which I will determine how much pain relief it generates. I have halved the narcotic intake on spec and it appears it may be justified. I have a website I have been developing over a number of years and have created some resource materials, particularly of use for new patients to get some ideas of what they are getting into. No one ever told me where I would be now when I first got this and perhaps if they told me exactly where I would be, I might not be here, but with some resource assistance, I would have avoided many mistakes and may well have been able top prepare a little more for the debiltating nature of the worst case scenario that one may face. Of course if you ignore all the rules then you will have a short and very ruff ride, but then if they are fully informed, it is then up to the individual to choose!
