Questions about managing an attack the best way..

Hi again :-)

I have a few questions about an attack. Right now I am having pain

in the pancreas area and am still in the process of an evaluation for

this. I am scheduled Monday for a test. In the meantime, I am

concerned that I not do anything to make the pancreas worse and

hopefully help it to weather the storm.

The problem is that Eating causes mild discomfort and there is

swelling on that side...I can't move around too comfortably. But if

I try to go without eating I get the blood sugar problems. Waking up

every two hours...at first with a headache, but I have been eating

every 2-3 hrs in small amts so that makes the blood sugar probs

better, but seems to stir up the left side pain.

The pain seems to be most noticable within a few minutes of eating

and then it calms down and then it comes back when I have gone too

long with out food...maybe 2 hours. Is this usual?

The only thing I am eating is tomato soup that is diluted with tomato

juice and has no dairy in it, and I mix maybe 2-3T of non fat yogurt.

I am afraid to try anything else in case it causes more probs. I am

eating nothing but that day and night for 2 days..and still have to

wait at least til Monday and probably longer.

Anyone have any information about is there anything I can do to

protect it from getting worse? Should I be careful moving? What

about taking supplements? I read Vit E and C are important but

nervous about starting up the pain. Seeing that vit E caps are

usually in oil, aren't they? I thought the fat from them might stir

things up. Anyone have experience with taking vit E while having an

attack

Any and all input is very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Jane
