" Cystic Fibrosis in the 20th Century - People, Events, and Progress "

Carl F. Doershuk, MD, Editor

Cystic Fibrosis in the 20th Century chronicles the remarkable

increase in survival and quality of life seen since the

description of the disease in 1938. It includes the origins and

subsequent impact of the United States Cystic Fibrosis

Foundation, the International Cystic Fibrosis [M] Association,

and the International Association of CF Adults on the natural

history of the disease. Described are the many individuals who

served on and furthered the growth and effectiveness of these

organizations. In-person memories dating from the 1940s are

recounted by key contributors representing a spectrum of

participation in the cystic fibrosis story. These contributors

include past presidents and early organizers of the several CF

organizations, care providers and researchers, community

volunteers, family members, and three contributors who live with

the disease.

This hardcover book with 32 chapters and illustrations has a

reduced price for the CF community and readers of the CFRI
