Guest guest
Hi everyone, I have started the diet for the past few weeks but did not do a formal " intro " diet because I have normal BM's due to being on 15 mg prednisone. I am tapering within the next few months, and I am wondering if anyone here has has any experience introducing the diet while tapering and when to know if a food is not " tolerated " or if it is just a decrease in the medication. I am willing to go back and do the intro diet for a week if that's what is recommended. Any email or posting about you or your child's experiences would be fantastic, I can use all the tips possible. Thanks, UC 3 months SCD 1 week
Guest guest
Our experience was the opposite - we were weaning off prednisone when my son flared - we went back up to 20mg of prednisone with little or no effect, but after 3 wks SCD he started having normal bm's. But a friend of mine here was considered steroid dependent at 40mg of prednisone until she started SCD and she managed to wean herself off the meds after a couple of months on SCD. Once you get down to 10mg I would highly recommend only weaning 2-2.5 mg at a time. My ped gi allowed us to do that the last time we had to wean off and it made the weaning a lot easier for us. Guest guest
, Our daughter is 4 years old with crohns. We started the pred and diet at the same time back in October. About 10 days after she was weaned off the drug she started having 1/2 hard 1/2 soft stools. Still just twice a day but the end of each stool was not formed. She is intollerant of Milk and could not handle the yogurt or the cheese when off the pred. She couldn't handle the fresh fruit or peas either as it turned out. We went to the intro diet ommitted the cheese and yogurt and started doing the basics as in: Hamburger Eggs Bananas Steak Chicken Thighs in Tomato Juice Chicken Soup Recipe Bananna pancakes Applesauce cooked purreed squash Freeda Multi Vitamin Those things firmed back up her stools and she went twice a day. We're now trying to introduce cooked purreed french cut beans. Eventually we will try the yogurt again in some form. Brent Father of Ella age 4 SCD 3 mo.
