Guest guest
Thought I'd throw in my 2 cents about water based moisturizers. All moisturizers have some combination of humectants (water) and/or emollients (oil). If your skin is oily yet really dehydrated I would start using a humectant TONER (this is the exact opposite of an astringent toner) right away in conjunction with an oil free moisturizing cream. The are a few " good " chemicals to look for when buying a humectant toner (like glycerin for a good water moisturizing cream). The ones I know of are called sodium PCA, sodium hyaluronate, and hyaluronic acid. I forget the exact number but they are huge sponge like molecules that can hold something like 1000 times their weight in water. I have very dry skin and use this as well underneath my oil, serum and cream every day. Make sure you leave water on skin when you get out of the warm (not hot) shower then spray the toner right on top of the water on your skin then apply your cream right on top of that. You can tone continuously throughout the day with no ill effects. The addition of this type of toner has been a lifesaver for my clients going through accutane treatment.
