Guest guest
Louie, Can't remember if I responded to your post or not! My brain is frazzled. Thanks for the understanding. I promise I won't push myself too hard. If it comes down to it, I'll do what I have to do and put in for the disability retirement and we will survive somehow. I made it to work two days this week but tomorrow is looking doubtful. I feel like crap and I am really in pain. It's mostly my back right now but I'm hurting under my right rib, too. I've taken two mepergans (demerol with phenergan). Surely they will kick in soon.

Guest guest
louie, So sorry to hear about yolur pain pump acting up! I hope that's all it is! Please do take care. Can they not give you enough oral meds to at least keep the pain at a tolerable level? I was doing better this morning. I wanted to try and make it the whole day with no pain med. I did make it to a little after noon. I hadn't eaten and was getting a little shaky. I ate only a little cottage cheese and pineapples and a few minutes later the pain and nausea hit. It wasn't severe but it was still bad enough. I took a lortab 5 and oral phenergan. After a bit it settled down and I felt better. Hubby and I went to Wal-mart. By the time we got back (and it wasn't a long trip) I was totally exhausted and in pain again. I took another lortab 5 around 5 p.m. I ate shrimp and a little bit of baked potato and so far all is well. I'm hurting some but I'm not nauseated. The doctors are supposed to be referring me to a biliary specialist for a liver biopsy. Hopefully tomorrow I'll find out when the appt is. His name is Dr. Selwyn Vickers and he's at UAB. He's only been there since 2001. He trained at s Hopkins and must have been in land at some time because I found a paper he had written with another doctor on the internet. Has anyone heard of him? To & Jenise and Everyone, Here's what happen to me! Hi CP Pals, Well, yesterday, (Sat.) I told you I would let you know what has happening to me. Sorry that I haven't got back to you all sooner, but I have been in bed mostly. Here it goes. Well, I awoke out of a very sound sleep at 8:10 am Thursday with this horrible pain in my left side & into my back, which is unusual for me since my pain is on right side into my back. Well I just thought it was just the tail of my Cranky Pancreas acting up, so I took my pain meds and tried to take it a little easy and didn't tell anyone. My pain went from a 2 Wed. night to a 6 Thursday morning, so I knew something was up. When I did wake up on Fri, when my husband went to work at 4:30 am, the pain was at a 7 , so I go back to bed & was able to sleep. Then I got up at 9:30 to get ready to go and get my pain pump refilled. I already had this appt. When I get there they tell me my alarm is going off when the first take a reading before the refilled it. So I have it refilled and after it's refilled the alarm is still indicating the battery is low. So I told them I was having lunch with my daughter at the hospital, since she works there. They told me after I eat to come back and they would take a reading to see what was going on. Well, all I had to eat was 1/2 cup of cottage cheese and a cup of tapioca(SP?) and 2 bites of tuna salad and my tummy swells up to look like I'm 9 months pregnant. My nurse couldn't believe the change in the size of my stomach. Well, they took another reading & it still said battery low. They said since the morphine was warm when they put in , this time it's real that the battery is low, so they call OUS, & talk to the nurse to let them know what going on. OSU was supposed to get back to my nurse or me after they talked to my doc. Neither one of us, have heard anything from OSU, as when I going to have surgery to have it replaced. Of all weekend to get an attack, we did have plans to attend the first annual Stern Wheeler Festival on the Ohio River this Weekend. Well we did make it to Friday night Lighted Boat parade which was only 2 boats and a jet ski light up. I was in all lot of pain and should have stayed home, but didn't want to disappoint my husband, so I went. It was nice to get out of the house on such of a pleasant evening. They had all lot of the festival food, but I couldn't eat, even thro we did go down to it for dinner, so my husband did get to eat for me. Saturday comes and the pain isn't any better,in fact it's now at an 8 and holding there, but I did make it to the festival Fireworks display. I glad I did as they were very Spectacular. My husband did get to eat dinner there, but Iwas too sick to eat, so I drank Gatorade. Then Sunday they were having the Stern Wheeler race, but I didn't make it as now the pain is up to an 8 still and even more nauseated and it was sprinkling anyway. So I stayed home and spent most of the day sleeping and taking my pain meds and nausea meds. Any trying to take it as easy as possible, so today I'm on Liquids only. I hope to hear from OSU as when the can replace my pain pump , as this is what they think is causing my pain. The pain pump isn't functioning to full capacity Well , I don't think I be on here very long as it hurts to be at the computer. I just took more pain & nausea meds & I'm waiting for them to kick in. I hope you all have had a better & pain-free weekend than I have had. I'll let you all know what's going on about having my pump replaced as soon as I find out anything. At least one good thing has happen, is so far I can't hear the alarm beeping, which they said could happen anytime. I guess I better knock on wood that it doesn't happen. With how I feel, that's just what I need is the alarm beeping. Then I would be more of a witch than I'm already am. Sorry this is so long, but I wanted you all to know what is going on with me. At least we are hoping it's just the pump not functioning right and not a full blown attack of pancreatitis. Take Care, Louie in WV
