Hi Double Oh--I've been a bit intrigued by your suggestions that

accutane is something of a panacea for this complex condition. I

have the flushing/vascular type of rosacea and not the acne type. My

skin is under control thanks to (and only to) photoderm. However, I

have a feeling it will be an ongoing battle for me, since I did not

undertake photoderm treatments until I had serious permanent damage.

I just finished my initial set of photoderm treatments, but expect I

will need 2-3 a year, for life, absent any other promising treatment

option(s). My derm has suggested low dose accutane as the next step

but I have my reservations about it. I still question whether or not

a prior stint with accutane (not low dose, grant you) was responsible

for the eventual, dramatic and sudden worsening of my rosacea.

I would like to believe, but have a hard time believing, that rosacea

is a " treatable " condition. Are you saying that accutane can " treat "

the flushing/vascular form of rosacea or just the acne form? If you

consider it a viable option for those only affected by the flushing

component, what do you recommend in terms of dosage, frequency and

duration of treatment? Can you provide any info from medical

journals discussing this? Thanks! :)
