Guest guest
Dear Group: Just wanted you all to know that I had a six week run-a- round with my insurance company, which could have been avoided. My letter was sent from Dr. Rutledges' office to the insurance company and due to the cost of the surgery went to medical review. Normally this process takes 3 to 5 days. I kept calling my customer service representative and asking how things were progressing. And he kept saying check back in a week as he did not know what was wrong. But it continued to be in review. Finally I asked my husband to go to the head of the human resources department where he works and asked for help in getting this problem resolved. The first time that they called they were told the same thing that it was in review and call back in a week. After the second week, finally the head of human resources asked to speak with a supervisor above the customer service representative to tell them exactly what the problem was that was holding up an approval for the surgery. Upon their checking, they noticed a circle pattern developing which that the insurance company was waiting for a specific date for surgery and Dr. Rutledges' was waiting for pre-approval to give me a specific date. I immediately went self pay to get a date and gave that date to the insurance company and they immediately approved the surgery for July 26th 2000. I know that this will not solve everyone's problem but if this saves one person a needless 6 week run-around, it is worth checking into.
