Guest guest
Dear Debbie, Sorry I didn't respond sooner, but I've had a difficult couple of weeks. My new job is going fine, but is a little stressful, what with learning their computer system and stuff, but my real problem has been a painful tooth abscess. I finally was able to get in to a dentist (right across the st. from my new job) after begging the receptionist to get me in, in spite of an out-of-State check which they held until I got paid on Thursday and took them the cash for $500 which was the least they would take. On Tuesday, I had two root canals started, including one on the really painful tooth. The dentist will finish them next month when I get back from my daughter's wedding in New Mexico. I still had to stay home on Wed. (the second week on my new job), I was in so much pain. I called the dentist at home Wed. night and he called in a painkiller with codeine in it, which put me to sleep, and I was in his office at 7:30 Thurs. morning for more work on it. He found some more nerve tissue in one of the canals. After that, the pain finally started to ease. I finish the antibiotic (which has given me diahrrea big time, wonder if that's how I will be after the MGB) tomorrow and am finally off pain pills. What a relief! I don't think there's anything worse than a toothache. And I delivered a 13 lb. baby normally with only local anesthetic; I'd rather do THAT again than go through the pain of the last 10 days. Anyway, Centennial Beach is just a few blocks west of the downtown Naperville area on St. west of Washington St., which is the main North-South street through downtown Naperville. Bring a picnic basket (no glass, though, they'll confiscate it) and a cooler or you can buy food there: hot dogs, nachos, ice cream, candy, soda, as I recall. There is a large tree-shaded grassy area with picnic tables and even some charcoal grills and a nice sandy area for the kids to play by the shallow end of the pool. You can bring lawn chairs, too. It's open from 1-8 every day (opens at noon on weekends) (closes earlier in August). We haven't been there in 5 yrs or so, since we moved and our kids grew up. You may want to call for current info & hours & admission charges. The phone number should be under the " City of Naperville Centennial Beach " . It's usually pretty crowded on weekends, but it's a fun day for everyone. I spent a lot of time there when my boys were young. Our home wasn't air conditioned and many summer afternoons would be spent up there. Sometimes my husband would come up after work and go for a swim and we'd eat dinner there that I brought from home. (not hot dogs, nachos, & ice cream) I sure hope you get to go sometime. Kids really love it! ENJOY! P. in GA Re: Thank you > Hi .. can you tell me how to get to that beach in Naperville?
